Teens Yoga - term 3

Yoga Maya's teen's yoga classes; teach movement and mindfulness for secondary school children ages 12 and up, promoting profound methods of self-care at an age when their adult perspectives are newly forming. 

 Teens will learn the importance of mental health and physical wellness with accessible yoga practices that have positive impacts on brain development and nervous system regulation.

 Through breathing and active-rest relaxation techniques, mindful yoga-based movements, games, and reflective practices students are empowered with a tool-kit for physical, social and emotional health and wellness.

Our Teachers Kerry and Asher are mother and daughter, have 3 children each. They are passionate about the wellbeing and development of children and the benefits mindfulness-based practices can bring.

Class description:

Yoga Maya’s Teens yoga classes teach movement and mindfulness, in a safe and caring learning space, encouraging body and breath awareness.  Classes are non-competitive, fun, and play-based promoting confidence, social-emotional development, concentration, and resilience. Classes draw on trauma- sensitive evidence-based practices helping your children and teens increase strength and flexibility of mind and body. Tens learn that their breath is always with them and can be their best friend. All Teens are welcome.

 

About me:

Kerry is a mother of two and hands-on grandmother of five. She is passionate about the wellbeing and development of children and the benefits mindfulness-based practices can bring. Kerry is a Yoga Australia Registered Children’s Yoga Teacher and 350hr Level 1 Hatha Vinyasa Yoga Teacher, with a University Diploma for Education Assistants Special Needs from ECU. She has a Working With Children Check, National Police Clearance and current First Aid certificate.
