Abhyanga can be done by almost everyone! It is generally safe and and beneficial for most people at any age and change, transition or ability of life! There are some considerations to keep in mind and if any of these relate to you reach out to your healthcare professional for advice and reach out to us as we may know options just for you to help support YOUR unique Abyanga practice. Considerations can include: pregnancy, skin conditions, allergies, sensitivity, medical conditions.

What are doshas? In Ayurveda, doshas are the three fundamental energies or principles that govern the functioning of the human body and mind. You may have heard of them, they are: Vata, Pitta, Kapha. According to Ayurveda each individual as a unique combination of doshas, known as their prakriti or constitution. Maintaining balance among the doshas is considered essential for overall health and well-being. Ayurvedic practices such as diet, lifestyle modifications, herbal remedies, and yogic practices like asana, pranayama, mudra and energy locks are used to help balance the dosas and promote health.

What are the potential benefits for me in practicing Abhyanga? Here’s 10 reasons why you want this practice in your life!

  1. Relaxation and Stress Relief: The rhythmic and gentle massage motions of Abhyanga can help relax the body and mind, reducing stress and promoting a sense of calm.

  2. Improved Circulation: The massage strokes used in abhyanga can help improve blood circulation, which may benefit overall health and skin condition.

  3. Detoxification: Abhyanga is believed to help remove toxins from the body, promoting detoxification and supporting the body's natural cleansing processes.

  4. Moisturization and Skin Health: The warm oil used in abhyanga can deeply moisturize the skin, improving its texture and overall health.

  5. Muscle and Joint Health: The massage can help relieve muscle tension and stiffness, as well as support joint health and flexibility.

  6. Balancing the Doshas: In Ayurveda, abhyanga is believed to balance the doshas, promoting overall health and well-being.

  7. Mindfulness & Self-Care: can help you develop a deeper connection with your body and appreciate its sensations and signals.

  8. Nurturing & Nourishing: can help you feel more cared for and valued

  9. Body Positivity: Regular practice of abhyanga can help you become more aware of your body's strengths and beauty, promoting a more positive body image and self-acceptance.

  10. Cultivating Self-Love: Taking the time to care for your body through abhyanga can be a form of self-love and self-compassion. It allows you to prioritize your well-being and treat yourself with kindness and respect.

It's important to note that individual experiences with Abhyanga may vary, and it's always a good idea to consult with a healthcare professional or Ayurvedic practitioner before starting any new wellness practice.

Wanting to read more about what this event is inspired by, then see below

Why do Full-Moon Activation?

Research and studies show correlations of the lunar cycle effects on humans, and although exact mechanism of moon’s influence on humans awaits further exploration, knowledge of this kind of biorhythm may be helpful to us. They’ve found human and animal physiology are subject to seasonal, lunar and circadian rhythms. And some studies have found that humans were more physically efficient during full and new moon lunation’s. As well as recorded increase in emergency rooms, more police resources required on the streets, a full moon energy illuminates... it shines...it  highlights, and exposes places for our inner work. This can be a power source utilised to move deeper into connection with yourself, your current purpose, and to ask for guidance on what the universe wants you to see and look at within yourself and the world around you, to find how, where an din what way your loving-kind attention is needed to help you better further your progression on your path, increase your consciousness, self-awareness, self-care, self-love... and work to be a more positive force for the evolution of yourself and others. Therefore full and new moon lunation's may offer an auspicious meditative energetic force... a catalyst for the process of encouraging something, parts of ourselves, hidden in the unconscious to become activated….so we can be conscious to them, being our own light.

The moon represents the physical and emotional body. As earthling’s our organic matter composite of human body is about 62% water. From your brains to your teeth… blood,…skin…organs and bones, there is water in every cell of your body, Water is in all our living cells and makes up 65 - 90% of each cell. Its present between cells and Blood and cerebrospinal fluid are mostly water.

The moon is earths natural satellite, our fifth largest moon in the solar system

As the moon comes closer to earth its gravitational pull changes and the earths large bodies of water respond with higher tides.

The moon every 14 days is the brightest, largest object in our night sky…it makes this celestial being we know as home, our Earth, a more liveable planet by moderating its potentially wobbly axis making it stable. Luna, moon, influences the waters of this watery earthy planet causing tides, creating rhythm that has guided humans for thousands of years

Yoga Nidra with Shona
Jan

Yoga Nidra with Shona

Yoga Nidra & Healing with Shona

During the practice of yoga, Nidra's consciousness fluctuates between the states of introversion and extroversion. It swings sometimes to the outside world through the senses while in others it slides into the sphere of sleep. Little by little consciousness tends to stabilize, but to achieve it fully requires a prolonged and systematic practice. Then, when the Nidra state (the border between the alpha and theta waves) is reached, the mind becomes more receptive.

The consciousness is operating in a space where it can contact the subconscious and unconscious dimensions. So, this is of great importance because it allows us to discover and awaken the immense potential that lies dormant in the deep levels of the mind. There are hidden solutions to all our problems and conflicts.

Benefits of Yoga Nidra

• Deep skeletal-muscular relaxation, removal of blockages, and physical pain.

• Balance of the nervous system and increase the production of endorphins, the hormones of happiness, and on the other hand lower levels of immunosuppressants, noradrenaline and cortisol.

• Reduction of the rhythm of our brain waves and harmonization of the two hemispheres.

• Stress relief, depression, anxiety, insomnia, headache, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, hypertension.

• One hour of yoga nidra practice equals four hours of natural sleep.

• Development and use of non-analytical mind for personal growth purposes.

• Mental reprogramming and proposal of objectives.

• Increased learning capabilities, memory, intuition, creativity.

• Spontaneous manifestation of our inner potential and our resources.

 • Cleansing of the subconscious and limiting memories.

• Lucidity to deal with conflicting situations.

• Deep meditative states.

• Expansion of altered states of mind.

• Integral harmonization
